LEARNER-CENTERED APPROACH

An instructional approach, in which students are the center of attention as learners in a classroom, is the Learner-centered approach. This approach involves students’ involvement, knowledge, maturity, and necessities (Brown, 2003). In this part of the book I assimilated that, the teacher is the person who is in the facilitator role’s and deals with the classroom condition and also gives learners the chance to build their own knowledge as well as the development of their skills, aptitudes, competences or abilities through involving them in individual or group work activities. In other words, this approach is mainly focused in three marked aspects: teachers’ and learners’ interrelationship, the person who is learning and learning process (in which teacher does the critical role of teaching) as well (Blumberg, 2012). Moreover, it’s important the learners’ interaction and participation in class, complemented with the teacher’s support; because learners feel more motivated when they know that the teachers are caring about their progress in getting learning outcomes successfully. All in all, I’d use activities such as project group works and Jigsaw, in which learners have the opportunity to interact, discuss, investigate, find and share data collaboratively.
